Welcome to the College of Arts and Letters. We are the largest academic college in the university, with over 190 faculty and approximately 5000 majors. And because we deliver the greater portion of general education courses, our faculty touch the lives of every ODU student. We take great pride in our work, and we take seriously our responsibility to educate and shape the lives of these students. The College offers a cross-section of majors: in the humanities, the creative arts, and the social sciences. Such academic diversity nurtures the kind of intellectual energy that produces cutting-edge research and outstanding teaching. Our institutes and centers encourage interdisciplinary exchanges among faculty and students alike; and they foster the critical thinking skills that all students need to ensure success in the global marketplace.
